Sonja Nic Rafferty

The Ivy Bench

First week of her holiday!
She demands for the light
And the sea
Deeply
Madly
Sadly
Somewhere the wind must be
To carry her away
From the lonely ivy bench
Where she sits
Many hours
Watching huge shadows
Shadows darker than ever
Of these old juniper trees
The shadows don’t talk
Wherever you come from
Wind …
Take her to Alba!
It’s the best
Time for travelling
She demands
For the light
And the sea
