Jens Schriwer

Out in the cold

Oh, sun! Thou shine´st no longer on my heart
and warm´st my skin no more.
Me eyes yet blinded by thy dusk,
as thee art, what I adore
too much to turn away my sight.

Ne´er will my soul grow desperate,
it longeth for thy soon return.
Though the cold night now embraceth
me, I still can feel
the heat, the ember and the hope
of thy holy light.
