Zul Ariffin

The Beloved

Made a rosary with Your Names for beads

Twiddling them before I sleep

As dawn breaks, with eyes still awake

I lie twiddling with pursed lips

I seek Your respite and Mercy

With knees bent and pilgrims’ palms

There is no God but You alone

I die at the cry of your psalms

The Builder of all things

Fashioned me in His way

In me, he illuminated with the Light

The Beacon for His Beloved
