Bretagne

Weiß schäumen
Meereswellen an
diese Felsenküste,
aus deren hartem,
grauem Gestein
die Granithäuser
alter Städte entstanden,
deren Geschichte
eine verwitterte
Sprache spricht.
Sonne bricht durch
graue Wolken und
wirft ihren matten
Schimmer auf
maigrünes Apfellaub.
Wind streift durch
Gräser und Blumen
der Bretagne.
Ganzjährig singt er
sein wehmütiges Lied
von einem weiten Land
unter weitem Himmel.

Brittany

White sea waves
foam to this rocky coast.
The granite houses
of ancient towns
are built of its
hard, grey stones
which tell the story
of a weathered past.
Sun shines through
grey clouds and
throws its light on
green apple leaves.
Wind blows through
grass and flowers
of the Brittany.
Throughoutt the year
it sings its sadly song
of a wide-spread country
unter a big sky.
