10-year-old boy dreams about being crucified

Ten-year-old James asked Jesus to allow him to have nightly dreams about the stories that occurred in the New Testament.

One night, James dreamed that he was the young lad who gave his fish and loaves of bread to Jesus to feed thousands of people.

“It was amazing,” James told a friend, Joshua, at school the next day. “I’ve never seen so many people or so much food in one place at one time. I ate so much I thought I was going to pop. It was the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten in a dream. Or in real life.”

The following night, James dreamed that he was one of the shepherds who were guarding their flocks near Bethlehem when Jesus was born.

When James awoke the next morning, the angels’ melodious announcement was still ringing in his ears. While the family was still eating breakfast, James told his mom, Janie, and his dad, Jim, about the two dreams. “God must love me a lot to let me experience these Bible events through dreams,” James said.

“God loves you much more than that,” said his dad. “He loved you enough to send Jesus Christ, his son, into the world to die on the Cross for your sins.”

Before going to bed that night, James knelt and prayed, “Dear Father, thank you for the sacrifice of your son, Jesus, on the Cross for my sins. I pray that you will allow me to experience that sacrifice in one of my dreams.”

James dreamed he was one of the two thieves who were crucified on crosses alongside Jesus. As he slept, James saw himself on one of the crosses. He looked at the Lord and said, ’’Please remember me when you come into your kingdom.’’

“This day, you will be with me in Paradise,” the Lord lovingly replied.

Later, James and Josiah, the other criminal crucified with Jesus, were still alive. Jesus had already died.

The soldiers broke the legs of James and Josiah to speed up their deaths. As James’ legs were broken, the pain was intense. He was awakened by his mother shouting, “James, get out of bed, it’s time for breakfast.”

James sat down at the table and recounted his latest dream for his parents. “As my legs were being broken, I thought, ‘This is the most pain anyone could ever experience,’” he said. “But the more I thought about it, I began to realize I was wrong.

“Jesus was beaten with a whip that held bits of glass, metal and rocks. His head was scratched and bloody from the crown of thorns.

“But I think he experienced the most pain when he carried the weight of everyone’s sins upon His shoulders. I believe all those sins were so heavy that all the weightlifters in the world couldn’t pick them up!”
