Husband surprises wife with special Mother's Day gift

Dinner time had almost arrived, and Danny, 13, and his 16-year-old sister, Daniella, were discussing ways they could make Mother’s Day a memorable occasion for their mom, Danielle.

“I think we should purchase a beautiful bouquet of roses for mom,” said Daniella. “Roses are mom’s favorite flowers.”

“I think we should take her to her favorite restaurant for lunch after church that day,” said Danny. “”Mom just loves to eat lunch at that restaurant on Mother’s Day. She says  it’s one of the highlights of the day.”

Daniel, the teens’ dad, offered his input. “Why not do both?,” he suggested. “And if you need a little help with money, I’ll be glad to chip in a few bucks.”

“Thanks,  Dad,” said Daniella. “You’re the best.”

“Yeah,” said Danny. “We appreciate it. Say, Dad, what are you doing for mom for Mother’s Day?”

“I’m planning a big surprise for your mom,” said Daniel. “I called Pastor Dave and arranged for him to perform a special ceremony as your mother and renew our wedding vows.”

“Mom’s going to love you for that, Dad,” said Daniella. “She told me several months ago she hoped you could have a ceremony like that soon.”

“Your mom is a great wife and mother,” said Daniel. “She deserves everything nice that we can do for her.”

Danielle called her family into the kitchen for dinner. “As everyone sat in their usual places, she said, “I’ve prepared your favorite meal, turkey-and-dressing with all the trimmings, this evening.”

“Did you make apple pie the way I like it?,” asked Danny.

“Of course, I did,” Danielle said.

“Did you make mashed potatoes,” inquired Daniella.

“I most certainly did,” replied Danielle.

“Daniel asked God to bless the food. He added, “Lord, thank you for Danielle and for the blessing she is to all of us. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

“I have a question for you, Sweetheart,” said Daniel. “Why did you prepare my favorite meal so close to Mother’s Day?”

“You’re forgetting something, Dear,” said Danielle. “Turkey-and-dressing is also my favorite meal.”

Danielle continued, “The Sovereign Lord has blessed us financially, and He has blessed us with good health. So I decided to treat myself to a special pre-Mother’s Day meal.”

Daniel told Danielle about his big surprise, as they heard someone knocking on the door. “I’ve invited Pastor Dave to eat dinner with us this evening,” Daniel said. “After we eat, we’re going to have a rehearsal to practice renewing our vows.”

“You’re the best husband in the world,” said Danielle.

“And you’re the best wife and mother in the world,” said Daniel.

“I am the best wife and mother in the world!,” Danielle joked with a smile. “Yes, I am!”
