Werner Kemper

Moondog

There's a dog in me

an ugly, pot-bellied, basset-like old mutt

but the eyes are young, alert, green, awake, greedy

sniffing at every corner

chewing at every rotten piece of bone

or mouldy pizza chunk

at home

in every deserted, run-down alley

horny, forever ready, forever full of dreams

howling at the moon

yeah, there's a dog inside me

and I'm your dog
