Dandelions

I am not fond of dandelions
who enter the garden
without my consent
to root there
without a `may I? `
The sticky, milky liquid
oozing from their stems
is unattractive.

But in the days
of my childhood
these puff balls
were my delight,
blowing their seeds
in all directions
on their own parachutes,
whirled to a distance by the wind.
