My Friend

So here I am,
I’m walking down
men’s roads until the end.
I left behind
what lies beyond
to follow you, my friend.
And though they told me
not to go
but leave you to your fate,
I took the risks
and left the heavens
to look for you, my mate.

They say you changed,
turned from the light
to live in darkest fire.
They call you fallen,
conceal your name,
denote you as a liar.

They may be right, I cannot say
I don’t know what to think.
I hear them say “He did betray”
and there thou fallst
from heavens brink.

And since I saw you falling,
dearest friend of mine,
I came when you were calling
to spent with you this time.

So here we are,
we’re walking down
men’s roads until the end.
We left behind
what lies beyond
but have each other, friend.
