Sonja Nic Rafferty

Cat Felix & Co.

Always pets belonged to my life,
Sometimes there were even more than five.

Poultry, pigs, sheep and a dog you could spot,
They lived together topsy-turvy in our cot.

Exotic fish in an aquarium, fascinating and big,
At some time or other my pets kept me fit.

Budgerigars dressed up with iridescent feathers
Were chirping their songs in my garden of heathers.

His fur, coloured like a ripe orange fruit,
Felix stalked with a proud cat mien, very cute!

A brown woolly clew called Dolly,
15 years true fellow – the Bearded Collie!

Bugsy was our dwarf rabbit with black fur,
Swift like an arrow and had white strands of hair!

You see they were a bunch of herd.
For their sake country-life I preferred.

I tried to present my poem as a rhyme because I wrote my German original as a rhyme. To keep the rhyme I had to change some words. *Smiles* ~ SonjaAuthors comment
