Mauro Montacchiesi

Poignant late November tune

Perhaps it escapes you
that the soul perceives a lingering sorrow
when the branches get unwillingly naked,
and pleasant shuteye is a soothing experience.
Maybe you don't get it,
that the brisk throbbing of the heart blunts away
in late November,
when the once-green leaves drop off.
It might be you are not aware,
the quick gait of the mind dwindles in the gray November.
When the yellow leaves plunge,
the heart senses as if someone has trussed it up
for better times.
Passing away appears unavoidable,
but painless experience,
during the foggy November,
when nature tunes the sad melody
of dying branches.
