Allons Enfants de la Patrie – The Grazing Shot!

On today's day of the liberation of France from arbitrary rule and yesterday's grazing shot at Trump in Philadelphia, as a warning shot that he certainly does not understand as such!

With a spark in their eyes and a dream in their hearts,
They rise with a promise of new noble starts.
Yet heed this reminder from history's lore:
Pride goeth before a fall evermore.

In France, where the banners of freedom were raised,
A tale of ambition, both fervent and crazed,
Unfolded with fervor, with blood and with strife,
A lesson inscribed in the annals of life.

The tyrants who sought to enslave with their might,
Met justice in flames of a fervent delight.
The guillotine's blade was a swift, final call,
For those who in hubris ignored their own fall.

But listen, ye dreamers of future command,

A grazing shot fired by a bold, steady hand.
A warning it was, from just yesterday's plight:
Liberation's sweet call should be heeded with fright.

Robespierre fell, his ambitions laid bare,
As Marat met his end in the still, quiet air.
Their visions of power, though grand in their mind,
Were shattered by truths they refused to unwind.

For power corrupts and the fall is severe,
When pride takes the helm and steers with no fear.
The masses once stirred by a passionate plea,
Can turn on their leaders with cold enmity.

So pause in your march with your eyes on the throne,
Remember the lessons the past has well shown.
The grazed shot of warning, though missing its mark,
Was fate's gentle signal, a light in the dark.

The Revolution's fire, though kindled for right,
Consumed many souls in its turbulent fight.
A balance must hold 'tween the might and the just,
For pride led to ruin, and fall follow must.

In dreams of a nation reborn from the pain,
Seek wisdom in caution, let virtue sustain.
For France’s great story, both grand and so small,
Proclaims to the proud: beware of the fall!
