Our dog Ben

I am weeping buckets
And that big, silent dog
Stares at me
With his lovely eyes-
Maybe smelling my distress,
But not feeling
My human emotion.
He places his head on my feet,
Silently looking at me,
And I feel a kind of comfort
In a very definite way.
