"Thoughts to the film "of The readers" (The reader)

Michael Berg wrote as very much a young man for a beloved woman a poem. I think, it could have been so:
"You my muse,
divine woman,
if you knew how much you are to me
if you knew how a little I am without you,
would you be then differently to me?
Would you differently love me then?"

-----------------------------------------------------

Years later, Michael Berg - lawyer - could have chosen other lines. Maybe that:
"Yes, it were my muse
was the wonderful woman
so much older than I
but with a heart, apparently hard like of stone.
Question me: did you love me sometime?
How did you feel for me?
Did you feel what felt I deeply in me?
Today I know: never you have never loved me, broke to me the heart and it could never heal."
