Erika Seetzen-Woods

Dear Sister

Silently you left.
I never heard your voice again
since you said `goodbye` on the phone,
cutting off our two minute conversation,
which we always managed every day.
Today you replaced the receiver.
I knew how ill you were and
will forever hear your last `goodbye` to me.
You took your lamp and left,
while I stay behind to tend the embers
which still burn.
