Community asked to share feelings about the Bible

Pastor Ricky Richy, the minister at one of the community’s smaller churches, decided to conduct a survey to learn how area residents felt about the Bible.

To encourage a large turnout for a town hall-type meeting, a local high school auditorium was rented for the occasion. The 950-seat auditorium was filled to capacity.

Pastor Ricky Richy asked the volunteer ushers to distribute a short questionnaire. Recipients were asked three questions: Do you Believe the Bible is the Word of God?, Who is Your Favorite Bible Character?, and What is Your Favorite Bible Verse?

Participants completed their questionnaires, which the ushers retrieved and gave to the pastor. Pastor Ricky Richy selected three questionnaires, then called out the names of the individuals who had answered the questions.

The pastor asked Ronald Richard, Rochelle Raquel and Roberta Renee to join him at the front of the auditorium.

“Roberta Renee, do you believe the Bible is the Word of God?,” asked Pastor Ricky Richy.

“Of course, I believe the Bible is the Word of God,” Roberta Renee responded. “The Bible teaches that in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And I see evidence of his creative genius every day when I look at the majesty of nature.”

Pastor Ricky Richy then asked Ronald Richard to share his thoughts about his favorite Bible character.

“My favorite Bible character, of course, is the Lord Jesus Christ,” replied Ronald Richard. “After all, He came to this earth, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, shed His precious blood on the Cross for my sins, was buried and was resurrected. And He is coming back to receive me unto himself, and I will live with Him forever.”

Rochelle Raquel then stood to share her thoughts about her favorite Bible verse. “My favorite verse is Genesis 1:1,” she said. “I realize that God puts everything in order, so the story of creation is the perfect beginning to the rest of the Word of God.”

Pastor Ricky Richy prayed a closing prayer. “Dear Heavenly Father, I praise your name for allowing us to gather for this special event,” he prayed. “Help all of us to realize the truth of creation, the truth and joy of everlasting salvation through Jesus Christ, and the truth of your Word. In Jesus‘ name I pray, Amen.”

Five-year-old Randall Randy was in the auditorium with his parents. Randall Randy added his own short prayer. “And thank you, Lord, that this meeting is finished, because I have to go to the bathroom!”
