On Christmas Climate
Tis torture done by elongated fall
more clenching than the frozen coats of snow;
Though fuzzy lights the darkening days englow
opposing threat of cold ceases to call.
Then suddenly it drums down with delight
a tantrum dancing choir of frosty gusts
that from the faces bash the last of lusts
until they bellow triumph to the night.
At last a railroad rushes o'er white trails;
On wings ere been surpassed the mountain sea.
Like rich, sweet wine that trickles past all mourning
unto the soul, a family's love prevails
The cat is purring underneath the tree -
the snuggly joy of giving and heart's warming!
