Bernhard Pappe

A new king is born

So many cracks in the bells
Too often a hopeful ring out
“A new king is born”
The new king grew up
Turned into a well know king
The same false promises
The same strange behavior
The same sorrows in daily life
Disappointed hopes and dreams
Prayers blew away like dust in the wind
A hopeful sound in the air
All bells ring it out
The message
“A new king is born”
Is a saviour in the world?

An old Gospel tells us:
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born

What will happen when the lodestar is absent?
What will happen when the holy child is absent?
What will happen when the saviour is absent?
All bells are broken then?
Destroyed by human kings!
