Orfeo's Song

I'm am man on a mission,
I got to get my woman back home.
When I find the man, who stole her,
I swear, I'll break him every bone.

Jesus saved me from the prison,
from the spell of the evil hand,
but why I should leave my babe in hell,
I just don't understand.

My woman is the break of dawn,
my woman is the morning sun,
but on the way, things changed to black,
oh, light, where we once begun!

Black Jack Davey came to town,
and he opened the golden gate,
he quote from the Bible, and whispered some lies,
and he charmed the heart of my maid.

He came in the dress of Gengis Khan,
on the back of a thin white goat,
my baby gave to him her little white hand,
he was the man in the long black coat.

Come, saddle for me my milk white steed,
I'll ride into the mist so hazy,
I'll ride all day, and I'll ride all night,
and I'll bring back my lady!

I met her between dusk and dawn
at the feet of a copper beech,
I reminded her of the oak, where we kissed,
it was near by, but out of reach.

She told me, she now was the wife of Jack,
he had powers, I never held,
I remembered the song, that Dylan sang,
I remembered Orfeo and yelled.

But I looked in her eyes, and I saw her affection,
I felt, she still stuck to my heart,
so I went to the oak and stepped out of the dark,
then she cried: "No one tears us apart!"

And I felt, Jack's the loser, she's forever with me,
she's the bride of my heart and my soul,
I give her the freedom, to remain, where she wants
break the spell of the wish to control.
