Richard Rodriguez

mixed drinks

While sitting at home all alone,

a voice in the darkness began to say;

let's go party let's go play,

I looked around for those who spoke

low and behold It was my friends

Rum and Coke;

but they weren't alone ,

for in the corner, wearing sly grins

were my other two friends ,

Jack and Gin;

looking to get me in trouble again,

one had my coat, the other my keys

dragged me to my Car,

While ignoring my pleas;

six hours later, waking up in my cell,

confused, and hung over as hell;

looked around for my friends

not surprising,

I was alone again.
