The furious Tempest

The storms pitiless fist is strong,
it hits with full force through the throng,
pulls on people,s hair und clothes
and leaves behind leafless roses.

Cats, dogs, mice, howling at the storm,
cringing alongside like a worm,
above their heads the flying eggs,
swept out by storm of damaged nests.

Birds, hurling through the air like stones,
smash against walls and break their bones
and trees, which are whipped merciless,
wail in pain like a frightened lass.

At long last the tempest takes leave,
it caused so much sorrow and grief
and damage in a huge amount,
everywhere is a whining sound.
