The Culture of Complaint

(A decay of cultures,
an end of the land of poets and thinkers,
the decline of the Occident)

A land once known for mind and art,
Where music soared and thought took part,
In shaping worlds with depth and grace—
Now stands within a darker place.

Where once the pen and quill would write
A culture rich in wisdom's light,
Now bitter tongues and hateful speech
Through screens, in secret, loudly screech.

The harmonies of Bach have waned,
Dürer's visions left unstained;
Where beauty thrived in colours deep,
Now anger's hand begins to creep.

From Goethe's words to Nietzsche's gaze,
From Kant’s sharp thought in wiser days
To minds that pondered space and time—
Now lost beneath complaint’s grim climb.

Once Schiller spoke of human will,
Of freedom’s quest, a lofty thrill;
Now every voice complains aloud
In malice clothed, among the crowd.

What once was shared in feast and cheer,
Where minds would meet and thoughts ran clear
Is drowned by noise and pointed jeers,
A culture steeped in shallow fears.

The poets mute, the thinkers still,
The culture built on reason’s will.
From minds that once shaped art and law—
Is now replaced by endless flaw.

And though the books and towers stand,
The artist's brush and builder's hand,
The legacies of old decay—
As those who stir up strife and fray.
