Meet Up
"OKAY...OKAY! Settle down!...SETTLE DOWN!" A hush comes over the "ME's" of the first ever meeting of my characters.
All eyes are on me, and there is this weight in the
atmosphere that presses down so hard that my tongue is so dry I can't speak. My gaze sweeps over them and I feel this
parent like pride come over me as i look at my children..
Here they are. My babies that are not born of flesh, but born of thoughts and emotions. They are not real people yet i have brought them to life through my stories. All of them... more real than the real world people who I interact with in my every day life.
. As I look at them some slow soft piano blues music begins to play and there is this unified movement as my characters go from standing to sitting position.
Benny from NAME breathes deeply as he puts together one of his Sunny day scene puzzles. There is a sudden vibration in the air and I am transported to the lake from my story,
Time Back Trips. I'm in that beautiful day where there is sunshine and slowly moving ducks and white clouds.
The women from First Loves are sitting on blankets and there are bottles of wine and cheese platters and Ritz Crackers to feast on. The women are smiling and they
Pat the blankets and look at me with ,"come here" gaze.
.. The sultry woman from Bar Dance Boogie is suddenly next to me. She clocks her head , closes her eyes and says, "Otis. I just can't get enough of him."
I'm just about to say something to her when there is another atmosphere shift and I'm with Jesus from The Answer. It is Good Friday and I'm looking at Him hanging on the cross on the darkest day in HISTORY.
. QUINCY QUESTION from Counseling Characters is suddenly at my side. He looks up at Jesus and asks me
"How do you feel ?"
. Another shift and I'm sitting with my real earthly father on the bus lost in Florida from Meeting Dad...one of my poems...and I put my head on his chest and I begin to cry..deep..deep cries and the tears flow from an inner waterfall in my soul as the bus rides miles and miles and miles away.
