XÍBEL MARÍA
…consciously, with every thought and emotion, this woman built the world;
after creating it with roses and lilies, like divine fruits, she kept the golden word
in her throat, there she hid it, in her temple;
hence her inner home, the arduous cosmogony with which she established
her first freedom, her law;
… Xíbel María coughed, swept, and waxed stairs,
and, when she looked within, she knew when a ray of sunlight burned
on a speck of dust or the sea;
her first birth dated back to the time when dew appeared,
that is why she knew the living fire, the living water, and other elements
with which the spirit boils;
… Xíbel María remembered their names, their faces, and the dates of their deaths,
but she also knew of a debt of love that in one life and another
intensified and burned her soul;
Hence his austerity in the face of pain, or the humble light he used when it entered his being, and, in sublime peace, his being ignited.
