Departures and destinations

I enter a train and the train departs,
carrying me through captivating landscapes,
pure wilderness and
along the most inviting roads promising journeys
to places echoing your beauty.

It’s easy to change during that kind of ride
and it happens from time to time 
you barely recognize the person you were
when you exit the carriage.

Wondering if the destination you reached
really is what you craved in the beginning.

Because desires do have
the ability to change me and you
were so powerful changing my desires.

Little did I know that entering this train would mean
knowing you, then losing you again
and through the process 
losing me as well and
all I’ve ever been.

So it hit me when I left that everything I ever wanted
and all I ever had was found and lost
in this train.
