Authenticity or People Pleasing

To please
only pretend
and soon you will
on the stage of life
Playing roles that are not yours

Think about it,
what today on this theater stage
by the excited actors
so dramatically performed
Tomorrow it will be forgotten

New exciting dramas are needed every day
so that the audience does not fall asleep
because then who should applaud
when for many
the importance of their own lives
depends on the homage of other people

From those very spectators
who are still cheering the success of their heroes
but will soon revel in their defeat

So don't feel inadequate
if you are not enough for those
who never have enough

And what use is it to you
to always live up to everyone else
except for yourself

So why then your endeavor
not to be strange to the world
but to become a stranger to yourself

Authentizität oder Gefälligkeit:

Um zu gefallen
verstelle Dich nur
und schon bald wirst Du
auf der Bühne des Lebens
Rollen spielen, die nicht die Deinen sind

Bedenke,
was Heute auf dieser Theaterbühne
von den aufgeregten Schauspielern
so dramatisch vorgetragen wird
Morgen schon, wird es vergessen sein

Täglich bedarf es neue aufregende Dramen
damit das Publikum nicht in einen Dämmerschlaf gerät
denn wer sollte dann Beifall klatschen
wo doch für Viele
die Bedeutung ihres eigenen Lebens
von der Huldigung durch andere Menschen abhängt

Von genau jenen Zuschauern
die jetzt noch den Erfolg ihrer Helden bejubeln
aber sich bald an ihrer Niederlage ergötzen werden

Fühle Dich also nicht ungenügend
wenn Du denen nicht genügst
die nie genug haben

Und was nützt es Dir
immer allen anderen gerecht zu werden
nur Dir selber nicht

Warum dann also Dein Bemühen
der Welt nicht befremdlich zu sein
Dir selbst aber fremd zu werden
