Lex Limes

Not My Service

Erase the human connection

replace it with itemised lists:

Punish their gentle reflection -

Trash it, change it, mail - dismissed.

I patiently shepherd my overthinkings -

my struggles in glass bell jars

Was it me in soft red you caught blinking?

Not a wink in your sight from the sunset star?

I scan like the greatest mind readers

my picket-fence home in the space between lines

where silences bloom and words don't linger

where black and white arms sculpt arching splines

There are brilliant times for being clever

There is proving ground for the brave

But what a one sided endeavour -

If it's only self you raise.

Giving heart is not my service to the system

I'm not a doctor to soothe or consort

My mind holds fast to quiet conception

Not bending spine for a falsified court
