MYSTIC Island/PART 1/TheAncientAge:When theIsland still slept

The wind was the first thing that existed.
It swept across an island that had no name yet—an island that had not been born, but awakened.
Mystic Island lay in the sea like a colossal sleeping body, and deep beneath it pulsed something older than time itself: the Sky Maw.
It was not a crack in the earth.
It was a breath.
A slow inhalation and exhalation of energy that made the ground tremble like the heartbeat of an ancient beast.

Sometimes the earth shook as if the island were dreaming.
Sometimes the sky darkened as though it were turning in its sleep.
But it slept.
And as long as it slept, the world was safe.

The first storms that crossed the island were nothing like the storms of later ages.
They had no purpose, no direction, no anger.
They were consciousness without form—pure observers drifting through the forests, crawling across the cliffs, and gliding over the sea like curious spirits.
They watched.
They waited.
They learned.

And sometimes, when the Sky Maw drew an especially deep breath, a crimson glow flickered through the clouds—a heartbeat of the island itself.
But there was no one there to see it.
Not yet.
Mystic Island was peaceful.
But it was never harmless.
