Justine Knolle

Little Black Monsters

When I am alone
my demons come out to play,
especially at night –
they hide during the day.
They mess up my fragile mind,
making me feel empty, lonely, and confined.
They scribble on my beaten brains,
tie me down with heavy chains,
leaving me there to die.
I don’t have the courage to cry
out.
