Turn of the Year

This year gets slowly now in turn
Surely I am glad when it is over
In 2004 my heart began to burn
Oh, how I missed all ferries to Dover
And travelling to the purple flower
Scotland's blooming thistle of my hope
Year 2004 you gave me the darkest hour
Take it back 2005 finally to be dope

This year gets slowly now in turn
Surely I am glad when it is over
In 2004 I had my lesson to learn
Who ever teaches a native rover
To settle down on heartless ground
Where sunbeams never touch my soul
Oh, how I miss the bagpipe-players sound
2005 let me achieve my personal goal

This year gets slowly now in turn
Surely I am glad when it is over
In 2004 my keep I could not earn
Oh, how I needed a four-leaf clover
Never for riches those are not my target
But being back in the land of my dream
I am only an always searching uprooted poet
Who enters an ancestral Celtic mainstream
