Oliver Zajac

Vanity

Death is floating in the air
Flying around, he doesn’t care
And sucks the life out of the ground
Quietly, without a sound

And we don’t even take a note
When he slowly cuts our throat
Every night we sleep and faint
Wasting time, we never complained

And all the things we once enjoyed
Start vanishing into the void
Where have they gone, our happy days
Going nowhere, without a trace

Every day, and also the last
Will soon belong just to the past
And all the fire that used to burn
Is never going to return

Death has put them all to bed
Don’t cry for them and don’t be sad
Eternity is not our fate
Death is on time, and never late !
