Petronella Steevensz

Captain Kirk's Bride

The honeymoon was over, daily chores now waiting
he embraced her in great haste, one hand
on the kitchen door's grating.
His hurriedly kissed goodbye
had upset the new wed bride
she wanted to be near him and
went to look for him outside.

At the far end of the farm where
the blackthorn blossomed white
there she found him standing
in a blazing beam of light.

They put her in a place
where people were very kind
who did everything in their power
to help ease her mind
'T was months before she spoke
and it got clear she was hopelessly dotty
as they caught the words she mumbled

BEAM ME UP, BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY!!
