Andreas Galambos

Life

Life - we start it with no teeth,
and unable to walk;
cold ground is underneath
our knees, and we can't talk.

And then we work, and sweat, and strive
We don't have time, we hurry,
restlessly we rush through life -
"I'm young! Ha! What me worry?

And when one day we approach death,
we return to that helpless state.
Before we take our very last breath,
we have to recognize our fate:

We can no more walk,
got no more teeth to chew,
we rather mumble than talk,

and we need diapers, too!
