Night in Metropolis
Night in metropolis.
In the streets‘ abyss
rest is only pretence.
Lacking in confidence
someone faintly calls
beyond dark walls.
Unheard behind the stones
loves one - one dies,
smiles one - one cries,
painfully one sighs and moans,
unseen the tears,
ignored the fears.
Gloomy and dark the night
- deceptive and still -
no window with light
in the walls of brick
that with hope could fill.
Alone...I feel sick.
