WHY AM I HOMELESS

You can’t take anything away from me
Because I’ve got nothing to give,
You can’t serve me an eviction notice
Because I’ve got nowhere to live,
You can threaten me as much as you like
Until you’re angry and red,
You can promise me this and promise me that
But promises won’t keep me fed,
I scrape a living as best I can
My rooftop is the sky,
I’m fit and healthy and able to work
But I’m jobless and ask myself why?
I’m classed as idle it’s not my fault
I’ve tried as hard as I may,
Please can I have my dignity back?
I’ve been called a dosser today.
