Birds of Paradise

One night

I listened

to a song

that rose

upward

as a bird

searching

lost paradise.

Found a tree,

white-blooming

at the gate

of paradise:

a deserted misty

morning-garden.

Walked among flowers,

enjoying colours

with my eyes,

waiting for

the unknown man

in the garden of youth.

Paradiesvögel

Eines Nachts
hörte ich ein Lied
das aufstieg,
wie ein Vogel
der das Paradies
sucht.

Fand einen weiß
blühenden Baum
am Tor des Paradieses:
Ein unberührter,
dunstiger Morgengarten.

Ging unter Blumen.
Farben erfreuten
meine Augen,
wartete auf den
unbekannten Mann
im Garten der Jugend.
